" A Worn Path"
" A Put on Path" is, in my opinion, a great story. That tells of a well used black woman and the struggles she's were required to deal with through her life. The author labels the woman Phoenix az after a mythological bird that died then came back alive through it is ashes that makes it immortal. The writer makes the girl " immortal" because the lady continues to possess something to have for, her grandson, whom she seemingly considers her biggest gift idea.
Mcdougal never says exactly how often the woman makes the journey, nevertheless we know she's made it just before because the family and friends knew whom she was when your woman came in house. It is a very long trip as the hunter even said that he only switches into town if he is unwell, and explains to Phoenix to visit home. This will make the woman incredibly admirable because she would continue to make this trip for her grand son who she doesn't even know is definitely alive or not. She actually is very established and persistent during her walk.
The journey the lady takes in this story represents her role in life. She actually is an old black lady moving into a white colored society with no education. A lot of things make this journey very challenging: it is very chilly, the path is uphill, as well as the woman is very old. The trip the lady makes shows just how determined the woman is usually to make this through lifestyle. Whether or not her grandson was dead or alive, in my experience, does not have got much influence on the story. No matter what, the woman making the trip for him shows her devotion to him and how much the girl loves him dead or alive. Sometimes in the account, the woman appears very baffled. When your woman mistakes the scarecrow for the ghost, the moment she believed the thorn bush was obviously a green bush, and not learning whether or not her grandson can be alive indicate confusion. The dialogue among Phoenix as well as the nurse undoubtedly indicates confusion or forgetfulness. At first your woman doesn't respond to the worker. However , once she realizes why she's where she actually is, her like and devotion to her son...
