The film XXY (really not a Y, but an By that has a calf snapped off) follows the life span of Alex, a 15-year old intersex person fighting her sexuality identity. The girl was born with male and feminine genitalia, also because of this her family relocated to a small beach destination village in Uruguay to stop stigma and prejudice that Alex could undoubtedly encounter in Spain. She lives with her mom and her dad who is a marine biologist and has also written a book on libido. Alex continues to be raised like a girl, and she has been taking medication to block advancement male features. However , this lady has recently halted taking the medicine. The turmoil begins the moment Alex's mother invites close friends to stay with them. The goal of their go to is not clear until Alex overhears a conversation among her mother and her mother's good friend. The friend is a cosmetic surgeon and has come to discuss Alex's gender reassignment surgery. Her mother's friends have also helped bring their child, Alvaro who also discovers Alex's below-the-waist anatomy. Other village boys quickly find out by means of Alvaro and, wanting to observe for themselves, assault Alex. Her father knows that see the police could alert the entire village to Alex's state. Despite this, Alex decides that it must be the right activity, and that it does not matter if other folks know.
